Welcome to the University of the Western Cape (UWC). To delegates coming from outside the borders of South Africa, welcome to South Africa and to those of you coming from outside the Western Cape Province, welcome to Cape Town, “The Mother City.” The countdown to the SASUF Conference has started and the University of the Western Cape is bustling with excitement in preparation of your arrival!
We are honoured to host the fifth Research and Innovation Week, in particular the Sustainability Forum, in partnership with the South Africa Sweden University Forum (SASUF).
Conference VenueAddress: University of the Western Cape, Robert Sobukwe Road, Bellville
The plenary sessions will be at the Jakes Gerwel Hall on campus (main campus, Robert Sobukwe Rd). There will also be spaces where you will be able to conduct informal meetings. You will also be able to connect via Eduroam and Wi-Fi on campus, for the duration of the Sustainability forum. Shuttles to and from the recommended hotels will also depart from this venue.
The workshops will be spread out over campus but we will have volunteers in SASUF t-shirts helping everybody attending the forum, so that you will find the allocated venue for the different workshop and plenary sessions.
Transport during the Sustainability ForumTransport arrangements are applicable to all participants. We will provide shuttles from the official hotels every morning to the SASUF Sustainability Forum and back to the hotels. Exact pick-up and departure times will be indicated on the programme. You are welcome to make use of your own transport arrangements for your own cost, if you wish to depart at any other time than when the shuttles arrive/depart.
ClothingPlease plan to dress smart business casually during your entire stay in Cape Town. The dress code for the evening functions is also smart business casual.
